MAFS Members,


Ever since my first meeting in 1994, MAFS has been enormously influential on my career and my development as a forensic scientist.  Through MAFS, I have connected with amazing mentors, been able to attend some of the best training available in the country, and become part of a network of highly skilled forensic scientists with whom I can always count on for advice.  As an added bonus, I have made many lifelong friends.  My experience with MAFS is not unique, I have heard similar experiences related from many people throughout the past 20+ years.  MAFS has grown, evolved and adapted significantly over the course of my career, and the thing that most impresses me is that people attending a MAFS meeting or workshop today are still experiencing that same sense of camaraderie and top tier level of training that I experienced at the beginning of my career.

MAFS Professional Development Fund - 10-Jun-2014

MAFS Professional Development Fund


The MAFS Professional Development Fund is intended to provide financial assistance to members attending the fall meeting of the Midwestern Association of Forensic Scientists. To be a recipient of this funding, you must present a paper at the fall meeting. Don’t miss this opportunity to receive financial assistance to attend the 2016 meeting in Branson, Missouri! There are several awards available with funding up to $500!



To apply for a Professional Development Fund award, complete the application form which follows and attach an abstract of your paper.



The abstract should include the following information:

1. Objective of the presentation

2. Relevance to the scientific community

3. Methodology

4. Results

5. Conclusion

The completed application must be submitted to the Awards Committee chair by


August 15, 2016. -Note: The submission deadline has been extended to August 15th, the July date on the form is not applicable at this time.
